Grok optional field
Webparse them properly with grok. The catch is that some of the fields are optional and only come through around 50% of the time. I am getting the multiline event coming through to ES properly, but I am not sure how I can properly deal with the optional fields. I have tried wrapping them in (?:), specifying multiple grok filters, specifying ... If you have an optional field, you can match it with an optional named capturing group: (?:%{WORD:TP})? ^^^ ^ The non-capturing group does not save any submatches in memory and is used for grouping only, and ? quantifier matches 1 or 0 times (=optional). It will create a TP field with a value of type word. If the field is absent, the value will be null.
